Murrell Edward Brooks Sr. passed away on June 17, 2017, at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 8, 1940, in Girard, Texas, to O.C. Brooks and Claudia Brooks.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janie Brooks and his six children, Murrell Edward Brooks Jr., Monica DeLoach, Melanie Wilk, Alvin Michael Torres, Jamie Lynn Torres and Valerie Rodriguez. He was also blessed with and survived by 10 grandchildren, Amanda Arp, Haley Woodcock, Daniel DeLoach, Claudia Brooks, Jordan Brooks, Kadyn Torres, Kloe Torres, Audrey Hamilton, Matthew Wilk and Harley Wilk; and two great grandchildren, Aria Hinton and Charlie Woodcock. He is also survived by two brothers, Mike Brooks and Wesley Brooks, and four sisters, Betty Townsend, Pat Floyd, Tempie Hancock and Lora Benda.

Murrell was preceded in death by his loving parents and 10 of his siblings.

Murrell loved his family deeply and spent most of his time in their company. He enjoyed working outdoors, reading, fishing, music and movies. He was always a friendly person who enjoyed gatherings and making new friends. He and his wife have been long time members of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, at 4 p.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Marble Falls.
