A Burnet High School graduate attending Texas A&M University was killed on the Fourth of July in a two-vehicle accident and car fire near Gause in Milam County.

Brian Bullock, 21, of Burnet, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:20 p.m. Tuesday accident, which happened on US 79. The driver of the other vehicle, Melodie Jones, 20, of Milano, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, the Milam County Sheriff's Department and the Gause and Milano Volunteer Fire Departments were called to the scene.

Bullock was a 2014 graduate of Burnet High School and a senior engineering student at Texas A&M University in College Station. He is the son of Dan and Lisa Bullock of Burnet.

Bullock is the fourth member of the Class of 2014 to die in a motor vehicle accident in the past five years. Zane Taylor Dixon died May 9, 2016, from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision in Georgetown when his motorcycle was rear-ended by a car a block from his home, causing severe head trauma.

Jamal Brown died from injuries sustained in a fiery crash on Feb. 12, 2016, just south of Park Road 4 on US 281 near Burnet when his vehicle stopped to turn into a private drive and was struck from behind.

Sierra Hardin, who would have graduated with the Class of 2014 had she survived, was killed in an automobile accident her sophomore year in February 2012, along with her younger brother Caleb, when their car collided into the back of a school bus on Texas 29 near the intersection with County Road 252 between Burnet and Bertram.
