Police plan a night out of fun in Marble Falls, Granite Shoals

National Night Out (NNO) will be celebrated in Marble Falls and Granite Shoals on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

The annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

Locally that national goal is taken up a notch with other first responders taking part in the night of family fun.

The Marble Falls Police Department (MFPD) will conduct their event from 5-7 p.m. on the 200 block of Main Street where the police station is located.

Vendors and sidewalk sales will be found on the street, but also free food, music, bounce houses for kids and more. It is a chance families and neighbors to visit with first responders in a casual setting.

Up-close and personal tours of first responder vehicles will be going on, including fire engines, ambulances and the MFPD fleet of new Interceptor SUV patrol vehicles, the emergency command bus, police boat and Rescue 1, a mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle.

On hand with the MFPD will be, Marble Falls Fire Rescue, Marble Falls Area Emergency Medical Service and the Marble Falls Area Volunteer Fire Department.

In Granite Shoals, Quarry Park on Phillips Ranch Road will be the NNO venue.

The Granite Shoals Police Department (GSPD) and Granite Shoals Fire Rescue have the same goal of welcoming families to enjoy an evening with first responders.

Kids can look forward to a drawing for a free bicycle, visits to fire and police vehicles and a bounce house.

Adults can get to know first responders for themselves and to introduce the whole family to friends who may come to their rescue some day. And, adults may find they have something to learn from public safety information on hand.

Local food vendors will be available on site.
