Readers who love to know their favorite authors will get the chance during the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Marble Falls Library at its 101 Main Street Home, going on Monday-Friday, Oct. 2-6.

Wednesday is Authors Day, and an even dozen Central Texas writers will be in Marble Falls to chat with patrons, sign and sell copies of their books from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Authors are scheduled in three groups:

  • 10 a.m.-noon—Ben Rehder, Helen Fanick, Monte Akers and Ed Mapel

  • 1-3 p.m.--Dennis Blocker, WC Jameson, Marcia Kaylakie, Susan Rogers Cooper

  • 3-5 p.m.--Jane Knapik, Donna Ingham, Dennis Blocker, Karen MacInerney

Historians like Knapik and Akers are balanced by cultural investigators like Jameson and Ingham and mystery writers readers love such as Susan Rogers and Helen Fanick.

A hallmark of Texas writers seems to be the wit and humor they are able to weave into their work.

Rehder, who picked up the mystery tradition of his mother Fanick, developed a following of readers who love humor as much as a good story in his Blanco County mystery series. But readers are following him into a new landscape with investigator Roy Ballard.

Cooper has made a place for herself with a laugh-out-loud first-person style.

“Every one has something special to share,” said Amanda Rose, library director.

“Visitors will not only get to meet the authors, but all through the library will be silent auction items from local businesses,” she said.

The anniversary celebration is sponsored by Friends of the Marble Falls Library. Members have organized the auction to to continue its support of the library, its collections and programs.

The library has been closed all week for renovations and visitors next week will be the first to see the improvements.

Parents will want to remember Monday's events for children and the whole town is invited to Friday's big event.
