An altercation involving large groups of armed people ended in the death of a Marble Falls man early Sunday morning.
The Marble Falls Police Department (MFPD) responded to the disturbance in progress at 506 Avenue S, home of the victim, Fermin Rios-Padilla.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered numerous individuals were involved in the disturbance and many had already fled the scene,” said an MFPD press release. “During the altercation, Fermin Rios-Padilla of Marble Falls was run over by a vehicle and several others sustained injuries from weapons such as knives, baseball bats, and pipes.
“Padilla was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital of Marble Falls, where he later died as a result of his injuries.”
Another injured person was transported to the hospital by Marble Falls Area EMS, according to an MFPD spokesperson.
Except to say that many people were involved and at least two suspects in the case have been identified, the MFPD said Monday, Oct. 23, no further information than “charges are pending” could be released.
It was confirmed that radio traffic that specified a vehicle identified as a blue 2008 Quad Extended Cab Dodge Ram, last seen southbound on Avenue S, was accurate.
No funeral arrangements for Padilla, a man of about 35 years of age, had been reported Monday morning.
