Groundbreaking Thursday for new adult community

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, for Tuscan Village Summit Rock, a new community for adults age 55 and older, at Summit Rock in Horseshoe Bay.

The community is being developed by Austin-based Legend Communities and is the second Tuscan Village-themed concept for the company, joining its predecessor in Lakeway.

“We are thrilled to extend our highly successful Tuscan Village living concept for active adults to Summit Rock Horseshoe Bay — one of Texas’ most breathtakingly beautiful and desirable areas for retirees,” said Haythem Dawlett, founder and principal of Legend Communities.

Keynote speakers at the groundbreaking will include Dawlett; Horseshoe Bay Mayor Steve Jordan and Legend Communities Chief Operating Officer Bill Hayes. After the ceremony, a mimosa brunch will be served on-site, with catering by Valerie Miller Events. Guests will have an opportunity to browse a community site map, clubhouse rendering, and floor plans of townhomes and villas.

Tuscan Village will offer homebuyers a number of options, from townhomes to single-family villas and golf estates. Each home will be energy-efficient and feature the latest designs and finishes, all with the hassle-free convenience and full-lawn maintenance, ADA-friendly floor plans, front- and side-entry garages, and a central propane system.

Legend plans an array of resort-style amenities, including a state-of-the-art fitness center, aerobics room, social room and pool in the first phase of development, expected to be completed in early 2019.

Additional amenities planned for later build-out include a clubhouse, walking trails, pickleball and bocce ball courts, a dog park and community garden. Additionally, the community will have a full-time, on-site activities director to plan a variety of social activities and events year-round.

Tuscan Village Horseshoe Bay will offer 304 residences on a 68-acre property, with prices starting in the $300,000s. Two model villas and one model townhome are expected to break ground in early 2018.

“We are excited to turn the first shovels on this exciting new development and grateful to be joined by Mayor Jordan, as well as other stakeholders, VIPs, reservation holders and realtors for this important occasion,” said Hawlett.
