Shoppers began buzzing in mid-December about a Feb. 9 opening for the new Marble Falls H-E-B and now the company's home office in San Antonio has sent out a timeline that been counting down since groundbreaking for the 111,000 square-foot store in April.

The grocery story is, indeed, set to open Feb. 9, with that month through May devoted to demolition of the old store and continuation of site construction. The old H-E-B fuel station closed mid-summer and a celebration of the conclusion of the entire project will follow completion of a new gas station this coming fall.

H-E-B first opened its doors in Marble Falls on May 1, 1966. The current location opened in 1990. Over the last 20 years, H-E-B has spent nearly $7 million to improve and enhance the store, expanding it to 75,841 square feet on 5.35-acres.

The new store sits on the site of the old Bealls store a 1503 Ranch to Market Road 1431 West on what is now a land lease of 11.74 acres. This new location is to offer a store complete with H-E-B and Central Market products, services and, the company promises, the low prices shoppers have come to expect.

The emphasis is to be on simple and fresh quality food options all at affordable prices, more parking, more check stands (18!) and more service with 50 additional “Partners” (employees) on hand.

After a half century of serving this community, it’s time we pull out all the stops and deliver our finest,” said Jeff Thomas, senior vice president and general manager of the H-E-B Central Texas Region, in his announcement of the groundbreaking. “This store will be incredible with the addition of so many conveniences such as a Curbside Pick Up, a pharmacy drive-thru, Cooking Connection and H-E-B Floral with delivery. We look forward to opening our new doors next year giving Marble Falls a shopping experience they deserve.”

The lineup of new conveniences inside and out remains the same as promised in April:
