Maurice Stovall Austin

October 1, 1934 — January 4, 2018

Maurice Stovall Austin peacefully passed away on Jan. 4, 2018. She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Austin was born Oct. 1, 1934 near Beaumont, Texas, to Eva and Pete Stovall. She graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville in 1953. Maurice loved her high school, where she was head cheerleader, homecoming queen and queen of the rodeo.

Maurice raised her only child, Web, in Austin. As a single mother in the 1950s and 60s, she learned to balance both work and being a caring and dedicated mother. She was a strong willed and loving woman who was never afraid to let people know how she felt. She was known to her family as an incredible cook and loved to host her three grandchildren from Colorado every summer when they were young.

She began work as a secretary for Southwest Educational Laboratories in the 1950s. She worked her way up and went on to become a personnel director for Seven Eleven Food Stores and IBM until an early retirement in her 50s.

She spent most of her life in Kerrville where she married the first love of her life, Lee Frazier, in 1974. Mr. Frazier passed away to heaven in the late 1990s.

Maurice loved the Hill Country and loved Texas. In her retirement, she travelled as often as she could, including multiple trips abroad. She loved her family, singing in her church choir, playing bridge, gardening, and played tennis into her 70s.

Mrs. Austin reunited with Jack Austin at their high school reunion in 2006. They fell in love, married, and moved to the community of Meadowlakes. She was an active member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marble Falls and a devoted Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Auld; her son, Web Young; and three grand-children, Zach, Matt and Leah, and two nieces and their children.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marble Falls.

Graveside service will occur at 10 a.m. at Marble Falls City Cemetary on Jan. 13. Following burial will be a worship service and reception at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marble Falls at 11 a.m.
