A pair of separate pursuits involving the Marble Falls Police Department this past weekend landed two individuals in the Burnet County Jail on assorted charges.

Capt. Glenn Hanson said his officers were notified at 7:54 p.m. Saturday, March 17, of a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper pursuing a vehicle into the city of Marble Falls after it failed to yield the right of way at the intersection of Ranch to Market Road 1855 and US 281.

The vehicle, a red 2003 red Pontiac, left US 281 South at Northwood Drive as Marble Falls police and Burnet County Sheriff's deputies picked up the pursuit. At the 1000 block of Northwood Drive, near the Marble Falls Middle School, a MFPD officer deployed tire deflation spikes and punctured two of the tires on the suspect vehicle.

However, the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Dustin Parks, continued to flee westbound onto Ranch to Market Road 1431 towards Granite Shoals. The Granite Shoals police set up a barricade on 1431 near the fire hall. Despite losing a back tire, Parks avoided the barricade by cutting through a parking lot at Valley View Drive in Granite Shoals before turning on Kingfish and then Kings Circle, where the driver finally bailed out of the vehicle shortly after 8 p.m.

Officers were able to chase down Parks on foot near the intersection of Kings Circle and Kings Castle before he could enter a residence. He was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, evading arrest or detention, reckless driving and driving with license invalid with previous conviction or suspection without financial responsibility.

Parks has a lengthy history of arrests by law enforcement for drug charges, theft, driving while intoxicated, and other various driving offenses. He is in the Burnet County Jail in lieu of $21,500 bond.

Then, at about 8:05 p.m. Sunday, MFPD Sgt. Robert Talamantes attempted to initiate a traffic stop for a speeding violation on US 281. The suspect vehicle failed to yield, resulting in a vehicle pursuit to Burnet, where the driver was finally apprehended.

She was identified as 35-year-old Melissa Rose Glick of Austin. She was booked into the Burnet County Jail on charges of evading arrest in a vehicle, driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana less than two ounces. Bond had not yet been set for Glick as of press time Monday.
