Mary (Bertie) Hansen

October 19, 1924 — March 20, 2018

Mary (Bertie) Hansen passed away on March 20, 2018. She was born in St. John, Missouri on October 19, 1924 to Merlyn and Vera Beary. She was married to John Hansen.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Jan Hatfield and her husband Craig; her four sons, Roy (Hans) Hansen, Bruce Hansen, Eric Hansen and his wife Nancy, and John (Dave) Hansen and his wife Patricia; her eight grandchildren, Brian Hansen and his wife Irina, Kevin Hansen and his wife Aurora, Jennifer Lockwood and her husband Aaron, Jonna McRedmond and her husband Anthony, Joel (Stephen) Hansen, Grant Hatfield, Michael Hansen, and Jakki Hansen; and her five great grandchildren, Abigail and Molly McRedmond, and Evan, Ephram, and Ethan Lockwood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Joel; and three sisters, Mona Wolfe, Barbara (Bobbie) Kirby and Betty Poland.

Mary was a recognized speaker at Toastmasters, a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Texas, and office manager of the Peoria Art Guild.

She loved art and was an avid painter. In addition, she enjoyed reading, traveling and meeting new people. She held a fondness for American-Indian culture, a deep love of horses and had the rare ability to locate underappreciated treasures during her exploratory hikes across the countryside.

We especially want to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Granite Mesa, who took such good care of her for the last three years, and who loved her quirky ways and colorful hats.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements by Clements Wilcox Funeral Home, Marble Falls, Texas.
