Joint primary runoff early voting begins Monday
Early voting in the May 22 joint primary runoff election will begin Monday, May 14, and end Friday, May 18, in both Burnet and Llano counties.
Polls also will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, on Election Day at various polling locations in both counties
Burnet County
There are three contested races on the Republican side of the ballot in Burnet County, while there are two contested races on the Democrat side.
Damon Beierle and Tom Stephens will face off against each other in the GOP runoff for Burnet County Precinct 2 Commissioner as they each seek to succeed incumbent Precinct 2 Commissioner Russell Graeter, who did not seek re-election. The two men were the top votegetters in the March primary.
The winner between Beierle and Stephens will be elected commissioner as there is not a Democratic candidate on the November general election ballot.
Jane Marie Hurst and Jeff Sellers are the two remaining candidates in a very heated GOP runoff for Burnet County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace. Incumbent Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Peggy Shell Simon did not seek re-election.
The winner between Hurst and Sellers will be elected commissioner as there is not a Democratic candidate on the November general election ballot.
The Third Court of Appeals Place 6 race features GOP candidates Michael “Mike” Toth and Donna Davidson, who were the top two votegetters in a five-candidate primary. The winner faces Democrat Gisela Triana in the November general election.
One Democratic race in Burnet County features a runoff between Julie Oliver and Chris Perri for the right to square off against incumbent District 25 U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin, in the November general election. Oliver and Perri emerged from a field of five challengers in the March primary.
The other Democratic race is for governor and the runoff pits former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez against Andrew White, son of former Texas Gov. Mark White. Valdez and White were the survivors of a nine-candidate “battle royale” for the Democratic nod in the March primary.
Early voting in Burnet County will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 14, through Friday, May 18, at the Burnet County Courthouse, 220 S. Pierce, Burnet, and the Marble Falls Courthouse Annex, 810 Steve Hawkins Pkwy., Marble Falls.
Election Day polling places have been consolidated. Voters in Voting Precincts 1, 5, 7, 8 and 11 will cast ballots at First Lutheran Church, 133 Apollo Drive, Burnet. Voters in Voting Precincts 2, 13, 14 and 17 will vote at the Burnet County Courthouse.
Election Day voters in Voting Precincts 10 and 12 will be at the Bertram Library, 170 N. Gabriel St., Bertram, while Election Day voters in Voting Precincts 15 and 15 will be at the Briggs Community Center, 215 Loop 308, Briggs.
The Marble Falls Church of Christ at 711 Broadway is the place to vote on Election Day for voters in Precincts 6 and 20, while the Courthouse Annex in Marble Falls will be the Election Day voting place for Precincts 3, 4 and 19.
Other Election Day polling places include Highland Haven Community Center, 118 Blackbird Drive, Highland Haven (Precinct 9), and the Granite Shoals Fire Station, 8410 RM 1431, Granite Shoals (Precinct 18).
Llano County
There are just two contested races on the Llano County GOP ballot for the May 22 runoff and just one contested race on the Democrat ballot.
The Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace GOP race features Bucky Boswell and Maureen Riggs, the top two votegetters in the March primary. They are squaring off to see who will succeed incumbent Linda Ballard, who did not seek re-election. There is not a Democratic opponent in the November general election.
Like Burnet County, both the GOP race for Third Court of Appeals Place 6 and the Democrat race for Governor are on the ballot as well.
Early voting in Llano County will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 14 through Friday, May 18, at the Llano County Library, 102 E. Haynie, Llano; from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the same dates at the Kingsland Public Library, 125 W. Polk, Kingsland; and from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the same dates at Quail Point Lodge, 107 Twilight, Horseshoe Bay.
Election Day polls in Llano County have been consolidated into four locations:
* Precincts 101 and 410 will vote at the Llano County Library;
* Precincts 204 and 205 will vote at the Lakeshore Branch Library, 7346 RM 261, Buchanan Dam;
* Precincts 307, 108 and 203 will vote at the Kingsland Library; and
* Precincts 102 and 109 will vote at Horseshoe Bay City Hall, 1 Community Drive, Horseshoe Bay.
