Faith Academy announced its partnership with Hellas Construction, Inc. to construct phase one of its athletic complex, called “Fields of Faith.”
Officials will break ground on the Faith Academy campus at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15 to celebrate the launch of construction on the football field and track. The public is invited to this special event.
“We are thrilled to kick off this phase of our athletic complex,” said Dr. Stuart Nunnally, Faith Academy Trustee and Board Chairman. “It has been a wonderful experience getting to this point, and we anticipate being ready for the 2018 football season and having a brand new track and field for all of our students to run and play on this fall.”
Field construction
Hellas Construction will be installing its Matrix Turf with Helix Technology, the same turf the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and Miami Dolphins use.
Geo Plus TM organic infill was also selected. It is made from cork and coconut fibers and offers superior playability and traction, while keeping the field up to 40 degrees cooler than a black crumb rubber alternative. A Cushdrain pad will be installed under the turf for added safety. This paved-in-place elastic layer will keep the GMAX of the field low and help reduce concussions, while providing planarity and rapid drainage after severe weather.
In addition, Hellas will install a new S200 epiQ Tracks running track system and field lighting.
“Hellas is proud to partner with Faith Academy to build this new athletic facility using our Hellas Design Build Group,” said Reed J. Seaton, CEO and president of Hellas Construction. “This facility will leave a lasting legacy for the academy that will benefit student athletes on many different levels.”
Hellas Construction is the largest and only vertically-integrated sports construction company in the United States, and all of its products are made in America. Hellas manufactures and produces its products specifically for each job, then through the use of its own heavy equipment and specialized crews, completes and installs each project. Because Hellas controls every aspect of a project from start to finish, they can complete projects on deadline.
Next phase
The Faith Academy Athletic Complex Working Group, comprised of Mark Hazelwood (Group Chair), Dr. Stuart Nunnally (Board Chair), Donna Holland Wilcox (Director of Development), and Randy Denton (Athletic Director), was charged with overseeing the process of specifying the athletic complex and selecting a construction partner. The group will continue to oversee this construction phase as well as fund raise, plan, and execute on the next phases.
“With the football field and track underway, the group will focus on the baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and a second gymnasium. A new K-5th grade building and playground are also on the plans for the campus expansion,” said Joe Rispoli, Faith Academy Administrator.
“It’s been a pleasure serving Faith Academy, and I look forward to seeing the significant impact the athletic complex will have on the school as well as our entire community,” said Mark Hazelwood.
