MayFest continues through Saturday

Music, carnival rides, shopping, games and fun for the whole family — all of it can be found this weekend at MayFest 2018 in Marble Falls, which continues to midnight Saturday at Johnson Park, 230 Avenue J in Marble Falls.

The MayFest Carnival is a large draw each year and brings out fans of people who love rolling, spinning, whirling, playing games of fun and chance and eating all of the great food on the midway. The fun at the Carnival begins at 5 p.m. and continues to midnight both Friday and Saturday nights.

Market vendors are also open for shopping at the same time as the carnival with a variety of crafts and goods available for purchase.

Friday, May 11, is also Tejano music night and will feature a free concert with Rey Avila y Sus Legitimos Del Norte from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

The annual volleyball tournament will be held at noon Saturday, May 12. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Cost per team is $20 and is open to players 16 and older. The washer tournament also begins at noon Saturday. Players register at 11 a.m. and the cost is $15 per person.

A Battle of the Bands is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday and will feature seven bands battling it out for the chance to play the final set and win $1,000. Bands competing include Bar Stool Brothers, Texas Crossing, London Baileigh & Saguaro, Garrett Simon Band, Cottonwood Crows, Bury Me Not and Damon Curtis.
