McMillian to represent Texas in Faith 7 Basketball Bowl

Mya McMillian, the cornerstone of the Marble Falls Girls Basketball Team for the past several seasons, will compete in the Faith 7 Basketball Bowl Saturday, June 9 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

McMillian will compete on the Texas Girls' Team against one from Oklahoma.

McMillian, one of 10 athletes who will compete for the Texas Girls All Stars, will wear jersey number 45. She is the tallest girl in the team at 6'3”. The tallest girl in the game will be her Oklahoma Girls All-Stars opponent, 6'4” Aspen Willisten out of Broken Bow.

Each year, ten of the best high school graduate basketball players from Oklahoma face off against ten of the best players from Texas in Oklahoma Baptist University’s Nobel Complex. The Faith 7 Bowl will honor these basketball players, many of whom are signing with Division I schools.

This charity event will honor the best female high school graduate players from Oklahoma and Texas. Bobby Canty, director of the Faith 7 Bowl, expressed his excitement over the inclusion of a girls game.

“We have so many talented female athletes in Oklahoma and Texas, and we are very excited to honor these players,” Canty said. “More than ever, I am looking forward to these games.”

The girls game will tip-off at 1:30pm, and the boys game tips off at 3:30pm. The MVPs will be honored directly after their respective games. General admission is $10 for adultsand $5 for students, and includes both games.

The Marble Falls basketball player's team will be coached by Ross Barber out of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler. Assisting him will be Rodney Gee out of Lorena High School.

In her career with the Lady Mustangs, McMillian (who will be attending Liberty University on a basketball scholarship) averaged 17.7 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game.

A two-time All-State Selection, she was named District MVP her final season.

This past season, McMillian led her team to a 27-11 record and to District, Bi-District, Area, and Regional Quarter Titles.
