Forensics results confirm human remains those of missing Lufkin woman

Tina Marie Logan, 40, who went missing about five months ago, has been positively identified as the skeletal remains found near her vehicle discovered abandoned in a remote area northwest Burnet County.

Authorities have identified the human skeletal remains found in a remote area of northwest Burnet County as those of a 40-year-old Lufkin woman reported missing by her family since April.
According to a Burnet County Sheriff's Office statement released Sept. 26, forensic scientists with the University of North Texas positively identified the remains as Tina Marie Logan.
On Aug. 14, investigators found an abandoned 2005 Mazda Tribute, and following a subsequent k-9 and drone search discovered the human skeletal remains in the vicinity.
Just days earlier the agency sent out a missing person alert for Logan, who was reportedly last seen at the 29 Tire Shop, 5030 Texas 29 in Burnet.
When investigators initially found the remains, they awaited forensic testing before confirming her ID.
“The investigation has revealed that the likely time of death is believed to have been in early April of 2018, though an exact cause of death is still undetermined,” the BCSO statement read. “The investigation into the circumstances of her disappearance and death is ongoing.”
Officials added that the remains “are unrelated to the skull that was recovered from the Llano County shore of Lake Buchanan several days earlier.
“That case is under investigation by the Llano County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Ranger Service,” according to the statement. Burnet County Sheriff's officials say the outcome of forensic testing is pending in that case.
The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office is still gathering evidence for the Logan case and asks for the public's help with information about her whereabouts or activities on or after the first days of April.
