James Truett Fietz passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 in Austin, Texas, at the age of 63. He was born Sept. 20, 1955 in Levelland, Texas, to Myron Britt Fietz and Reita Inez (Parker). Truett was a resident of Kingsland, Texas, for 11 years since coming from Wimberley, Texas.
Truett is preceded by his mother, Reita Inez Fietz; and brother, Shawn Britt Fietz.
He is survived by his father, Myron Britt Fietz; wife, Jill Ferguson Fietz; sons, Shaun Fietz and wife Pamela of Austin, and Shelby Fietz and wife Jordan of Midland;
His three grandchildren include Tristan James Fietz, Brooklyn Elizabeth Jo Fietz and Brinkley Jordan Fietz. His brother, Scott Fietz of Kingsland; sisters, Debbie Bailey and husband Keary of Austin, and Rhonda Sledge and husband John Dee of Pagosa Springs; and various loving nieces and nephews also survive.
Truett graduated from Coronado High school in Lubbock, Texas, in 1974. On Aug. 14, 1976, he married his high school sweetheart Jill Ferguson in Lubbock. During his working life, Truett served families and their loved ones via the pre-need industry. He enjoyed working with various managers, sales agents and funeral home directors. Unity Financial was his final work family and he truly loved his work.
Truett was an athlete, and great outdoorsman. He was admired role model and coach. He was an avid skier, team roper and horseback-riding cowboy. He enjoyed nature and his daily cup of coffee while admiring the glass like reflections of Packsaddle Mountain on Lake LBJ.
His love of nature called him to fun filled hunting trips with his sons, and grandson, along with the best of friends. He loved spending time at the Lake with his wife and his grandchildren.
A visitation for Truett will be held Friday, Nov. 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Kingsland.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Kingsland with Pastor Billy Cano officiating the welcome and prayer and Phil Stroud officiating the eulogy. Interment to follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
