Marie Olive Gibson

May 21, 1931 — November 5, 2018

Marie Olive Gibson, 87, passed away Monday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. Marie was born on May 21, 1931, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where she met the love of her life, Bill. When Bill returned stateside, Marie knew right away that she wanted to spend her life with him. Marie proposed to Bill and returned to Texas with him after their wedding on Nov. 27, 1952.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Olive Kolb, siblings, Harold Kolb and Gloria Stroker, and husband of 60 years, Bill Gibson.

Marie spent most of her life in the heart of the hill country as a homemaker, raising two sons and a daughter on the ranches which Bill managed. Marie enjoyed spending time with family and cared for many children throughout the years.

Marie enjoyed the more simple things in life as she made it a point to be present at every soccer, basketball, volleyball, little league game, track meets, Christmas programs and graduations. She loved watching classic movies, and singing along with the radio (a few of her favorites were Barry Manilow, Keith Urban and Brooks and Dunn), and visiting with dear friends. She also looked forward to Thursdays visiting with her friend Pat Clark and Friday afternoons with Mary at the beauty salon. Marie also stayed true to her roots by enjoying numerous New England Patriots (who are lovingly referred to as “her boys”) football games.

Marie Gibson is survived by her sister Pat Nelson, sons, Lynn Gibson and wife Cynthia of Burnet and Wayne Gibson and wife Della of Granite Shoals, daughter, Lisa Ulbricht and husband Ronald of Marble Falls, grandsons, Hunter Gibson, Patrick Gibson and wife Britney, and Brandon Colclasure; granddaughters, Whitney Woerner and Husband Zed, Kendall and Rylie Ulbricht. She was also blessed with four beautiful great-grandchildren, Conner, Fallon, Mason and Teagan Gibson. There are also nieces, nephews, and countless other loving relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on Thursday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home with Greg Neill officiating. Burial followed at Pecan Cemetery in Llano County. Serving as Pallbearers were Hunter Gibson, Patrick Gibson, Brandon Colclasure, Bubba Ussery, Clay Simmons, Zed Woerner and Richard Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are Conner Gibson and Mason Gibson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marble Falls Public Library.
