Mary Louise Feather

March 7, 1932 – December 1, 2018

Mary Louise Alley Feather passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2018, in Kingsland, Texas, at age 86 following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Known as “Tootie” to her family, she was born on March 7, 1932, in the farming community of Cherry Valley, Arkansas, the last of six children born to Lula Geiser Alley and Walter William Alley. She attended school there until her family moved to Houston in 1946, where she graduated from San Jacinto High School. While in Houston, she met James Feather, originally from Chicago, and they wed in 1950, and remained married for 52 years until his death.

They raised their two children, John and Ron, in Houston, before moving to Austin in 1969, where she held a variety of positions in real estate sales. In the late 1970s, the Feathers moved to Marble Falls, where Louise worked as a real estate broker and county tax assessor and also opened an antique and gifts shop.

Following her husband’s death in 2002, Louise moved to Kingsland and worked at the antiques store at the Antlers Hotel in Kingsland. She worked full time outside of the home from the age of 18 until she retired at the age of 80. She moved into Windchime at the Village Assisted Living in 2015 as her Alzheimer’s disease progressed, where she made new friends and received excellent care.

Louise is survived by her children, Father Ron Feather of Marlin, Texas, and Dr. John Feather and his husband Stephen Parsons of Arlington, Virginia; as well as her sister Elizabeth Harlan of Arlington, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Louise was a warm and engaging person who liked to interact with other people. As one cousin said, “Your mom had fun” – and so she did! She loved travel and gardening, among many other interests, but mainly she loved her family, which remained her focus throughout her life.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Marble Falls, Texas, with Father Ron Feather officiating. An online registry may be signed at PutnamCares.com.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Putnam Funeral Home and Crematory, 145 Texas Avenue, Kingsland.

Eternal life grant to her, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon her.
