Thomas Frederick Keith died July 4, 2018. He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Alger, Ohio, the second of five children to Frederick and Virginia Keith. After beginning a career in business, he experienced a call to ministry. He graduated from The University of South Florida and enrolled at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, graduating in 1968. He developed a great affection for the Texas Hill Country and requested a transfer from Florida to Texas. He first served Epiphany and Trinity Episcopal churches in Burnet and Marble Falls, Texas, and discovered his love of working with congregations in small towns and rural areas. He obtained a doctorate in Psychology from University of Texas in 1997. He was a professor of psychology at Sterling College (Kansas) from 1987-2000. During his years in ministry he served churches in Burnet, Marble Falls, and New Braunfels, Texas, Larned, Ellsworth, Great Bend, and Lyons, Kansas, and Arkansas Pass, Texas. After leaving Kansas, he and his wife Adelaide made their home in Rockport, Texas. He continued part time psychology practice and ministry as long as his health permitted then retired to New Braunfels.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Jane Keith; daughters, Laura Chiodo and Ginny Atkinson; sons-in-law, Roger Chiodo and Del Brown; granddaughters, Kelly Bennett, Lucy Lowe and Catherine Chiodo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
