Morris Kent Chambless "Pop"

July 19, 1929 — February 9, 2019

Morris Chambless went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 9, 2019. Services are pending and will be held in Lefors, Texas, with Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Chambless was born on July 19, 1929 in Borger, Texas to Herman and Octavia Chambless. He graduated from Texas A&M University and served in the Army Reserves. He married Jo Ann Johnson on July 25, 1948. Morris worked in the Oil Business and Ranching. He was a member of the Cowboy Church in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Before moving to Ruidoso, Morris ranched in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was an active member in the First United Methodist Church. He and Jo Ann later moved to the Marble Falls, Texas area where he became the Mayor of Meadowlakes in Meadowlakes, Texas for a short term. He was active in the Lions Club in Marble Falls, Texas and in Ruidoso, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joe David Chambless in 2018. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Jo Ann; their three children and their spouses, Bill and Chrissie Chambless, Melisa and Miles Walston and Marty and Janie Chambless; four grandchildren, Kent Chambless, Donnie Chambless, Jacque Ballew, and Jared Chambless; six great-grandchildren, Chance, Caleb, Madison, Hana, Lily, Hannah.

The family wishes to thank Goodlife Assisted Living and Memory Care in Ruidoso, New Mexico as well as Ruidoso Hospice for their thoughtful and loving care of Pop.

Direct Cremation will take place under the care of PCS Direct Cremation Services.
