The second half of the Area track meet produced another Regional competitor for Marble Falls High School.

The field events and the 3200-meter run were moved to Thursday after Wednesday rains intensified after the track events in Leander.

Mustangs sophomore high-jumper Kason O'Riley advanced to the Regional meet with a winning jump of six feet, four inches on Thursday. It seemed to be an off-day for O'Riley as he failed on the 6-foot-6-inch jump three times.

O'Riley hit the 6-foot-6-inch jump during the District track meet and skipped the 6-foot-8-inch bar to try for a new personal best. O'Riley will need to avoid future setbacks as competition is getting closer to his mark the further he advances.

At the district meet, his highest successful jump was over a foot taller than the second place finisher. On Thursday, second place finished only two inches shorter than his highest clear.

Mustangs high-jumper Lance Long finished seventh in the high jump event with a five foot, six inch jump.

Bryer Atkinson finished fifth in the 3200-meter run – only one spot away from a Regional qualification. He finished the lengthy event with a time of 10:29.68 – only 15 seconds behind fourth place.

The 5A Region III track meet will be on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 at Challenger Columbia Stadium in Webster.

The Marble Falls track team will participate in four events at the Regional meet – girls 400-meter dash, girls 800-meter run, girls 4x400-meter relay and boys high jump.
