Richard Adair Ritchey, born Feb. 10, 1927 in Denver, Colorado, passed away April 21, 2019 in The Woodlands, Texas. Richard’s parents were Oliver and Adalade Ritchey.
Richard was a WWII Veteran serving in US Navy. He spent the rest of his career in Law Enforcement. He was with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s department, Aspen Police Department, Olney (Illinois) Police Department and ended his career as the Chief of Police for the Fountain Police department.
Richard was very active in his community, he was involved in numerous organizations such as Colorado Law Enforcement Assn (Past President), Fountain Valley Optimist (past president), Police Protection Assn., National Sheriff’s Assn., Colorado Mounted Rangers (honorary member), Golden City Lodge #1, Life member of BPOE #1055, life member VFW post #6461 and the American Legion post #38.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Pamela Brown; son, Stanley Ritchey; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his father and mother; wife, Arlene Ritchey; daughter, Patti Lu Racine; and son in-law; Timothy Brown.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 10 – 10:30 a.m., and funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 US Hwy 85-87, Fountain, Colorado. A graveside service will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock, Colorado.
