Curtis Alvin Chapman

Curtis Alvin Chapman, age 83, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife, daughter and granddaughter on May 2, 2019, in Llano, Texas.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1935, in Eden, Texas. At the age of 19, he became a United States Marine and proudly served for eight years before being honorably discharged in 1962. Curtis served as Texas State Field Captain in Archery in the 1960’s in Brownwood, Texas. Curtis and Vauda moved to Marble Falls in 1964 along with their three children. He worked for General Telephone & Electronics (GTE) for 35 years before he retired in 1994. Curtis also worked as a Reserve Deputy for the Burnet County Sheriff Department for more than seven years from 1986 to 1993.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vauda Ansley Chapman; his son, Keith Chapman and wife Sandra of The Netherlands; his son, Terry Chapman and wife Tamara of Johnson City, Texas; his daughter, Stacy Sawyer and husband Royce of Llano, Texas; several grandchildren; and one great-grandson; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, B.J. Chapman and wife, Jennie of Arizona.

Curtis was preceded in death by his father, John A. Chapman; his mother, Nora Lee Bishop Chapman; his sisters, Leona, Jane, and Frances; and his brother, Robert Chapman.

The family will have a private ceremony scheduled for a later date.
