The lineup has been set for Saturday afternoon's Battle of the Bands as Marble Falls MayFest 2019 returns for another action-packed four days of fun, beginning Wednesday, May 8, and continuning through Saturday, May 11, at Johnson Park, 230 Avenue J.

The Battle of the Bands will be the main event Saturday and will feature six amateur bands competing for a $1,000 cash prize and, new this year, the opportunity to play at Wakepoint LBJ later in 2019.

Participants this year (in performance order) include Creekside Republic, Hard Right, Thunderosa, ArchEgo, Doug Day and CRVNCH. The first band takes the stage at 4 p.m. and performances continue for 45 minutes, with the winning band closing the show, which will wrap up around midnight.

On Friday May 10, Grammy Award-winning band J.R. Gomez y Los Conjunto Bandits will play from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. This high-energy band, lead by J.R. Gomez on vocals and accordion, will have the crowd dancing in the street.

Gomez is known for his entertaining shows and energetic stage presence, which caught the eye of super producer and bass player AB Quintanilla III, brother of the late Tejano legend Selena. Gomez also performed for Quintanilla's Kumbia King All Starz band. Their new group is taking the Conjunto scene by storm and this is a chance to hear them perform live for free.

The MayFest Carnival begins Wednesday, May 8, at 5 p.m. and continues to midnight. One-day pass wristbands for all rides are $25 per person, or customers can purchase tokens for $1 each, with most rides needing three to five tokens. . . . .
