Marble Falls police officers are wearing their sense of duty on their sleeves.
A new uniform patch design also conjures a new sense of identity and service.
The agency launched a committee recently to design a new logo for the officers uniform sleeves which was unveiled May 13 by all 24 officers on the force.
“They started wearing them on Monday, and folks started asking us about it,” Assistant Chief Glenn Hanson said. “We thought we'd put the word out.”
The new patch replaced a design the department donned since the 1990s.
“We decided that it was time for a change,” Hanson said. “'Marble Falls' was small on the old patch.”
The city's name may be more prominent on the new patch, but the emphasis of public safety remained just as bold.
“There's a little bit a change in the shape with the dominant feature being “POLICE” and the lone star for the state of Texas,” he said. “We wanted to stick with the royal blue. We wanted something a little simpler.”
The new look will soon be extended to some of the entity's other resources.
“We don't have any on our vehicles, but we do have some on our command bus and support trailer,” Hanson said. “Those will be changed out on the coming days as will the one on the front door.”
The new look reinforces the agency's devotion to public service.
“There are so many badges that are similar. The badges are authority,” he said. “The patch is our identity. It sets us off from other law enforcement agencies.”
