Stalker suspect leads cops on chase through Burnet County

A Marble Falls man faces several charges including stalking, reckless driving and resisting arrest after a fallout with his estranged wife and a police pursuit, authorities reported.

Marble Falls Police officers responded to a harassment complaint June 5 in the 1500 block of Resource Parkway.

“The victim reported that her estranged husband was chasing her vehicle in a Chevrolet pickup truck,” an MFPD press release stated.

Officers found the vehicle in the 2400 block of U.S. 281 and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle was driven by Luke Allen Mortenson, 29, of Marble Falls.

“The suspect refused to yield and a vehicle pursuit ensued. For safety reasons, the vehicle pursuit was terminated by Marble Falls Police Department near FM 1431 and FM 1980,” the press release stated.

“The suspect vehicle was intercepted by the Granite Shoals Police Department and the Burnet County Sheriff's Office as it entered the city of Granite Shoals,” the statement continued. “The suspect continued to evade and eventually returned to Marble Falls where he was forced to stop as he reached the dead end of a residential road.”

The pursuit then evolved into a foot chase which resulted in the suspect being “quickly apprehended by the Burnet County Sheriff's Office.” . . .
