Dilford Douglas Atkinson Jr.

January 19, 1961 — May 14, 2019

Dilford Douglas Atkinson Jr., also known as “Little Bill,” of Marble Falls passed away on, Tuesday May 14, 2019. Memorial Services will be held on June 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, with Mr. Terry Taylor officiating.

Born Jan. 19, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Dilford and Gladys Atkinson, he grew up living in both Corpus Christi and Marble Falls, ultimately graduating from Callallen High School in 1980.

As a passionate outdoorsman, Little Bill was a skilled deer hunter, fisherman, and storyteller. One of his favorite stories was of him and his father stalking a 14-point buck through the South Texas brush country.

Whether it was teaching his nephews how to rattle antlers or talking about what bait was working down at the dam for flatheads and blues with family and friends, he loved nothing more than sharing his wisdom with others.

Little Bill lived a hard life, one that no normal person could have survived…but then again, he was as tough as nails. Being as tough as he was, it was only natural that he was a huge fan of professional boxing where he developed some skill of his own.

Despite loving the skill and grit fighters possess, Little Bill was a man of extreme kindness and honesty. He never held back ‘I love you,” regardless of the situation prior to parting, nor did he ever hold back the truth.

Known by all who knew him, Bill was an extremely talented person, having an affinity for gardening and a blessed green thumb. He could find a poor sapling in a remote location and transform it into a beautiful shade tree.

An avid music lover, Bill could recall the album, song, and lyrics author of every Led Zeppelin ever created. He loved spending time with his friends and family, holding a special place in heart for his time on ‘Atkinson Hill.’ Bill could often be found at the Nueces river pulling striped bass out of the rocks when the river was running, telling his swimming nephews, “If you find a cold spot, a cold-blooded gator was just there.”

Dilford Douglas Atkinson Jr. has walked up the stairway to Heaven and is now through the gates with his parents Dilford and Gladys Atkinson; stepfather, Allen Owens; and a whole host of rowdy cousins and friends, rejoicing in the warmth of our Lord's embrace. He leaves behind his partner, Carroll Price of Marble Falls; his sister, Rebecca and ‘more than’ brother-in-law Gary Ray of Odem; his sister, Beverly of Granite Shoals; his daughters, Amanda Grim and husband Jacob, Audrey Pena and husband Daniel of Corpus Christi; grandsons, Benjamin Grim, Logan Grim and Wade Pena; nieces, Angel, Sandy, and Stacy; and nephews, Todd and William. Rest easy Uncle Bill, you are missed, and we will see each other again. Love you Unc.

Arrangements under the care of Jenkins Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas.
