Robert Padilla Madrid

December 13, 1962 — June 30, 2019

Suddenly, on June 30, 2019, while celebrating their 37th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Lydia, and their dear friends, the Knudsons, Robert Madrid passed from this life to the next.

Robert was a deeply spiritual and remarkable man, who will be greatly missed by all who know him. He possessed incredible talents and was unconditionally loved by many but especially, by those to whom he was a father figure.

He was born in Silver City, New Mexico on Dec. 13, 1962 to Ernestina (Padilla) and Robert M. Madrid.

He met Lydia, his soul mate and the love of his life, in the ninth grade at Silver High School and they continued their inseparable, loving adventures until his passing. When they were both 19, Robert and Lydia were married on June 30, 1982 at the Opera House in Pinos Altos, New Mexico. They moved to Marble Falls in 1987 and started R&L Custom Painting which evolved into Madrid Signature Homes as it is currently known.

Robert was a craftsman, master of his trade, and his visionary skills were second to none. He held himself to the highest standards, ultimately making his work unparalleled. When Robert set his mind to something, he didn’t move until the project was meticulously planned from start to finish and nothing surprised him. He saw it coming.

Many would call Robert tri-lingual because he was fluent in Spanish, English and Music. His ear for music enabled him to melt an audience with his beautiful voice and his guitar skills gave you something to hum the rest of the night. Robert never missed an opportunity to play his guitar and sing with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed playing with Rick Cummings and the rest of the gang at the Black Hole Studio. Occasionally, he also played at weddings and wineries. It was a beautiful moment anytime he pulled out his guitar and sang.

The family would especially like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Juliette Madrigal and her staff for their unwavering and loving support of Robert and Lydia.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Lydia; mother, Ernestina; and step-father, Manny Chacon; two older sisters, Betty (Doug) Baer, and Dina Madrid; and two younger brothers, Richard (Tina) and Ronnie (Reyes). In addition, he is survived by his father-in-law, Ray Leon and wife, Louise; and brother-in-law, Richard Leon; and sister-in-law, Lori (Carlos) Provencio. Also cherishing his memory are his numerous and dearly loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and innumerable friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert M. Madrid; his dear sister, Rose; and his precious four-legged baby girl, Ginger.

There will be a celebration of Robert’s life on July 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. at The Church at Horseshoe Bay, 600 Hi Ridge, Horseshoe Bay, Texas 78657. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Living Love Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 1266, Marble Falls, Texas 78654.
