An adventurous soul and a free spirit, Frances Lynn Grayless, climbed her final mountain on August 9, 2019, where she is now enjoying breathtaking views and endless sunshine.
Growing up in Texas, Fran spent treasured moments with her cousins, Becky and Virginia, at their grandparents’ house. Her Papa was very special to her and was known for teaching her life lessons – including a very memorable one that involved a chicken yard, a shovel and snow cones.
1n 1976, Fran and her family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Fran loved the outdoors. The fresh air, sunshine and sounds of nature satisfied a deep place in her soul. An avid hiker, she climbed to the top of around 25 of the 54 mountain peaks in Colorado – each at an elevation of 14,000 feet. Fran was a member of the High Country Hikers, a group of women who trekked over many of the mountains in Colorado during the 1980s. She also climbed Mt. Rainier in Washington and traveled through Europe climbing various peaks in the Alps. Fran loved traveling in her RV with her beloved poodle Emmy. She and this furry, faithful companion road-tripped all over the United states.
Upon settling in the Texas Hill Country, Fran and her parents lived in Granite Shoals and fell in love with the lake life. Fran and her family have made many wonderful memories on Lake LBJ.
Locals will remember her as Mrs. G, the kind and generous bus driver who worked for Marble Falls ISD for many years. Mrs. G loved the tiny smiling faces that greeted her every morning and would do anything for them. In fact, she was known for buying coats and backpacks for her little passengers in need.
Fran will be remembered for being loving, generous and kind. She was always genuinely concerned about the well-being of others. When she asked how you were doing, she really wanted to know. Fran was a ray of sunshine in her world and she leaves behind a glow of many happy memories. She will be greatly missed and forever celebrated by those who knew and loved her.
Fran is survived by her three children, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.
