Bob was born Oct. 16, 1931 to Jacob Luther England and Lessie Pearl Dickey. Bob was a native of Leesville, Missouri near Clinton, Missouri. He went to live with his aunt and uncle, Delmar and Eleonora Dickey in Kansas City, Missouri. He was active in the Boy Scouts where he received his Eagle Scout degree. He graduated from Southeast High School, Kansas City, Missouri in 1948.
Bob was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Air Force Counter Intelligence Service from 1949 through 1952 receiving the Korean Presidential Citation Medal; Korean Service Medal; Japanese Occupational Medal; Merit Unit Commandership Medal; and the United Nations Service Medal.
Bob studied at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1957. He served as president of the University College of Pharmacy Alumni Association and on the University of Texas Executive Council 1974-75.
He practiced Pharmacy in San Antonio, Texas for two years after graduation from pharmacy school then joined the A.H. Robins Company. During his tenure with Robins he served as a Medical Sales Representative, Hospital Research Associate, District Sales Manager, Divisional Sales Manager and Legislative Affairs Representative over his 20 years of employment.
Business activities included Coats Aloe International Distributor; President/Owner EWL, Inc., a real estate investment company; President/Owner Natural Pharmaceutical Inc. distributing medical products; Marsam Pharmaceutical Sales Distributor; partner in Obledo-England Associates, a professional government relations firm; and founder and CEO England Point, Rockport, Texas. Past business ventures included England Systems, an on-site waste water treatment and disposal company.
As a 50-plus-year Mason he was a loyal supporter of Texas Scottish Rite Childrens Hospital. Special hobbies included golf, fishing, hunting, and country music.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Diana Sue; three children: son, Gordon and his wife Annie of Cocca Beach, Florida, daughters, Margaret England Candfield, San Antonio, Texas, and Cheryl Conway and her husband Pat, of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Katie, Kelly and Stephanie; a brother, Don Henry, Sr. and wife Mary of Georgetown, Texas; sister, Maxine Bless, of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial tribute will be held in Rockport, Texas, to be announced at a later date.
