Richard “Dickie” Lee Pelky

Richard "Dickie" Lee Pelky, 62, of Buchanan Dam, Texas, passed away on June 10, 2019. He was born on July 13, 1956 to Phillip H. Pelky and Arlena (Parker) Pelky in Santa Barbara, California.

Richard spent most of his childhood life surfing with his brother, Curtis Pelky, in Carpinteria, California. The family moved to Texas, where he completed his senior year at Marble Falls High School, Class of 1974.

He spent most of his adult life in California working on off shore oil rigs, and was also a skilled carpenter and welder. Richard lived life to the fullest, throwing caution to the wind, a wild spirit and a humorous soul.

Richard is survived by his sons, Donald Pelky and fiancee Veronika Muela of McKinney, Texas, and Nicholas Pelky of San Luis Obispo, California; grandaughter, Skyler Griffiths of Huntington, New York; sister, Judy (Pelky) Becker and husband Joe of Auburn, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip H. and Arlena Pelky; and his brother, Curtis Frank Pelky.
