Dorothy “Dot” Ellen Riley Creasey

May 7, 1945 – September 11, 2019

Dorothy Ellen Riley, affectionately known as MiMi, was born May 7, 1945, in New Braunfels, Texas, to Homan Windell Riley and Alva Lee Schooley Riley, the fourth of eight children. Dot attended schools in Burnet, Texas where she graduated in the Class of 1963. After high school, Dot attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton, Texas and The University of Texas at Austin.

Dot married Frank Daughtrey Creasey Sr. and they had one son, Frank Daughtrey Creasey Jr.

Dot was employed at the Burnet Central Appraisal District for 39 years, during which time she achieved her Registered Property Appraiser, RPA Certification. Oh, the experiences she had during those 39 years before her retirement! She learned how to outrun dogs when doing field work and drive through rough country. In earlier years she was a Tupperware dealer where she earned an automobile through her sales work.

Dot had an intense interest in a myriad of people, places, and things. She was totally honest and trustworthy in her interaction with everybody. Her strongest characteristic was how much of herself, time, and resources she expended on helping everybody she knew. The love and dedication she showed to her grandchildren was remarkable. She nurtured them and supported them throughout their lives and involved them in music and historical ventures through the Children of the Republic of Texas.

Dot invested her time and talents in numerous historical organizations, including Burnet County Historical Commission, Burnet County Heritage Society (Fort Croghan), Burnet County Genealogical Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Children of the Republic of Texas, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Dot maintained extensive family genealogical records and was active in cemetery restoration and preservation of several cemeteries. She was dedicated to Bethel Cemetery in Burnet County and Navidad Baptist Cemetery in Fayette County, Texas, where her ancestors had helped establish both cemeteries in the 1850s. Dot was also an avid photographer taking photos of whatever fancied her, especially her grandkids.

Dot is survived by her son, Frank Jr. and his fiancée, Sara Parker Lovell; his son, Hunter Creasey; and Frank’s two daughters, Hayley and Hannah Creasey; and Sara’s children, Feliz and Joe Parker; as well as Frank Sr.’s son-in-law, Donald Lege; and Frank Sr.’s grandchildren, Stephanie Suttle and husband Ronnie; Steven Lege; Kris Lege and wife Elda. She counted extended grandchildren as her own. Dot is survived by three brothers, Bobby, Joe D, Jimmy Riley and wife Renita; and sisters, Milli Riley Williams and Ruth Riley Warwick. She is survived by uncles, LaVon Schooley, Bill Balke, Aunt Billie Brizendine; numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and other family members that she loved dearly.

Dot was predeceased by her husband, Frank Creasey Sr.; his daughter, Yvonne Lege; his granddaughter, Melanie Lege; Dot’s parents; two sisters, Joyce Ann Riley and Mary Katherine Riley Crow; and special friend brother-in-law, Edgar Lee Crow.
