Marble Falls City Council members suggested raising the base rate and consumption rate on water bills based on the cost projections of operating the water plant, paying off utility debt and anticipating future growth.

City staff approached council members at a regular meeting Sept. 17 about two options they expect to present during an upcoming public hearing involving water rate increase proposals.

The Marble Falls residential and commercial water bills are calculated by combining amounts of gallons used (consumption) with a base rate surmised from meter sizes. . . .
