Surrounded by individuals with compassion and concern, Benjamin Braden Hoffman, 41, completed his earthly stay and entered into eternal peace Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019.
Benjamin was born on March 23, 1978 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Ronnie and Diane Hoffman and spent his early years in the Anderson Mill area of northwest Austin attending Anderson Mill Elementary, Grisham Middle School and graduated from Llano High School.
It was during those early years that Benjamin formed many friendships, enjoying his time with friends playing in the parks and swimming in the community pool. In his teens he acquired an interest in trap and skeet shooting where he later competed throughout the state as a member of the 4H organization, often traveling with his daddy, uncle Billy, and cousins Trey and Wade.
His love for outdoors continued throughout his life where he added fly-fishing, caring for his horse at his grandparents farm, herding cattle at his Uncle’s farm and especially enjoying the annual family reunions at Lake LBJ where he would spend fun times with aunts uncles cousins and those whom he loved and who loved him.
Benjamin was a culinary artist, beginning his career at the Kingsland Dairy Queen. This lead to his formal training at Le Chef Culinary Academy in Austin. He practiced his talents working as a Line Chef, a Sous chef, a Head Chef and a Head Banquet Chef. These positions were with the Horseshoe Bay Resort, Yacht Club, Marriott and other prestigious restaurants. He was currently the executive chef at Escondido Golf and Lake Club.
While his culinary talents were appreciated and celebrated, his co-workers remember him as a true friend, mentor, and are grateful for the support he offered to them. He is known by them for his patience and is remembered for his kind words where he frequently told everyone he encountered to “have a blessed day”. Benjamin was a Godly man. As a young man, he served as a crucifer in St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Austin. More recently, he attended the First Methodist Church of Marble Falls.
He also worked as a volunteer in Florida and in Texas and was especially adept at supporting individuals with cognitive challenges or those who were less fortunate.
Benjamin’s most important friendship that blossomed was with Kristen whom he met in Florida in 19-- He and Kristen especially enjoyed their time together at the beach and the serenity that resulted from gazing at the waves. There bond was mutual and strong and their love is immortal.
His mother, daddy and brother hold him in their hearts and will remember him as a generous and loving son, his daddy’s best friend, and an adoring younger brother. He revered his family and his wife.
Benjamin is survived by his beloved wife, Kristen; mother, Diane; father, Ronnie; brother, Stephen; sister-in-law, Carrissa; and favorite nephew, Jamison. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, best friend and special cousin aunt Linda.
Visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 2 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145, Texas Ave, Kingsland, Texas. Graveside service was at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, at Willow Hole Cemetery in North Zulch, Texas. An online guest book and maps may be found at PutnamCares.com.
