Betty Jean (Large) Stapleton

July 10, 1927 — November 5, 2019

Betty Jean (Large) Stapleton passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, at the age of 92. She was born on July 10, 1927, in Leakey, Texas, to George Bernice Large and Viola (Tomerlin) Large.

She married Henry Leslie Stapleton on Dec. 26, 1945, after he got home from serving in the Army during WWII. They had three children and reared them out in the country on the headwaters of the Frio River north of Leakey, Texas.

Betty's professional career was that of a dietitian. Her culinary abilities were revered by anyone who was lucky enough to get to taste whatever she might prepare. Among her family, she was famous for her "Mimmie Rolls"!!

Betty is predeceased by her parents; her husband; and her son, Billy Ray Stapleton.

Betty is survived by her son, Ronnie Stapleton and wife Georgia, of Fort Worth, Texas; her daughter, Bonnie Whitacre and husband Mark, of Marble Falls, Texas; grandson, Stephen Stapleton of San Angelo, Texas; grandson, Anthony Blazek and wife Graciela, of Round Top, Texas; grandson, Scott Stapleton and wife Cheryl, of Midland, Texas; grandson, Shawn Blazek and wife Denise, of Dripping Springs, Texas; grandson, Jeffrey Whitacre and wife Micki, of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Gavrik Mathews, Shyann McClendon, Katie Stapleton, Corina Blazek, Evan Blazek, Cole Stapleton, Adam Stapleton, Brooke Blazek, Wyatt Blazek, Sadie Whitacre and Cason Whitacre; and her sister, Billie Cornelius of Mountain Home, Texas. Betty is also survived by a very special person in her life, Sondra Mobley, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
