Charles Woodrow McCurley Jr.

August 1, 1943 — December 7, 2019

Charles Woodrow McCurley Jr. died on Dec. 7, 2019 after a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. “Chuck” was born Aug. 1, 1943 in Houston, Texas to Helen and Charles McCurley. After spending almost three years in the navy, Chuck attended the University of Texas at Austin where he met his future wife, Karen Price of Richardson, Texas. He graduated in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He married Karen on Sept. 26, 1970.

In his professional life, Chuck was a real estate broker and investor who loved the art of the deal. He was a life-long lover of water skiing, scuba diving, and the Texas hill country. In his later years, he could be found driving his tractor on his ranch, junk shop treasure hunting with Karen, and spending time with family and friends. Chuck was a devoted husband, hands on father, beloved granddad, and loyal friend. We will all miss his presence.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Katie Adkison (Jason); son, Charles McCurley IV (Wendy); grandchildren, Claire and Maggie Adkison and Charles V, Mary, and Madeline McCurley. Also surviving are sisters, Diane Brewer (Charles), Debbi Blackbird (Mark), and Suzanne McCurley; as well as sisters-in-law, Dianne Crookenden (Ian), and Joanne Price; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held on Jan. 18, 2020. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hill Country Alliance by mail at P. O. Box 151675, Austin, Texas 78715, or online at hillcountryalliance.org.
