Cutter Ashton Sims

December 16, 1994 — December 11, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our son, father, brother and friend, Cutter Ashton Sims, on Dec. 11, 2019.

He was born on Dec. 16, 1994. Cutter was a smart, handsome, adventurous and free spirited soul. If you knew him well or barely at all, he always left you thinking. Whether it was about him being sarcastic, ridiculously funny, downright sweet or selflessly helpful, he left his mark.

In his adult life, his addiction and all that entails often defined Cutter; but to those who knew him well knew his curiosity, quick wit and charismatic personality. He fought and never gave up, but the chains that bound him took his smile, his laughter, his love for life and eventually took his life.

He was “daddy” to his kids, Athena Sky Sims and River Sage Sims; “son” to Chrysti and Sid Evans and Bob Sims; “brother” to Worth, Lexi and Launa Evans and Tara Greer; “grandson” to Frances Bendele, Ben and Charley Bendele and Ruth McLoad; “nephew” to John and Brady Bendele, Benje and Lorelei (Cissy) Bendele, Martin Sims, Bill Sims and Troy and Cindy Mahan; and “cousin and friend” to many.

A celebration of his life will be Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, Texas. Honorary pallbearers are Elliott (Poopie) Jacoby, Quinton Threadgil, Douglas Duncan, Bonner Bolton, Cody Graves, Billy Russworm, Jacob Terry, Jerron Click and Christopher Shearer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give to a trust fund for Athena Sky and River Sage Sims at First State Bank of Burnet.

We take comfort in knowing that Cutter is surrounded by light, free from the struggles that haunted him. Our grief is infinite and now so is he.

Care has been entrusted to Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.
