Jose Humberto Meza
September 22, 1989 — December 20, 2019
Jose Humberto Meza was born on Sept. 22, 1989 in Cook County, Illinois. Jose was raised in Chicago where he met his best friends and threw the best basement parties and overprotected his sister.
In 2009, Jose and his parents relocated to Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico where he proceeded to scare his mom by popping wheelies on his motorcycle.
In 2012, Jose moved to San Antonio to be closer to family; two short years later on one summer day, Cristina tripped and fell into Jose’s life.
Jose’s biggest dream was to be a law enforcement officer. In Dec. of 2015, Jose graduated from the San Antonio College Law Enforcement Academy. In July of 2016, Jose began to fulfill his dream and was sworn in as a Llano County Sheriff Deputy.
Jose married his wife Cristina Silva on Sept. 16, 2016.
In Nov. 2017, Jose became a father to Mia Isabella, the cutest little girl around, and she had him wrapped around her little finger since her first breath.
On Dec. 14, 2018, Jose was sworn in as a patrol officer with the City of Burnet Police Department. Jose, Cristina and Mia relocated to Burnet where Mia began attending a new school. Six short months after joining Burnet Police Department, Jose applied for the K-9 handler position and was granted the opportunity to go to work with his best friend, Kuso. Kuso and Jose made the best team and they made many arrests together.
Jose is survived by his wife of four years, Cristina; his two-year-old daughter, Mia Isabella; his parents, Jose and Claudia Meza; his sister, Claudia Meza and her husband Omar Hernandez; nephews, Xavier and Omar Hernandez; and so many family and friends. Jose was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Amparo Gonzalez, who spoiled him the most; and several other family members.
