Ronald Richard Krebs

April 27, 1939 — December 24, 2019

Ronald Richard Krebs, 80, of Buchanan Dam, Texas passed away Dec. 24, 2019. He was born to Richard and Gladys (McClane) Krebs on April 27, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Ron was raised in Omaha and graduated form South Omaha High School in 1957. He married his high school sweetheart Alberta Hammerly in 1960. Ron spent his professional career working for the John Deere tractor company in sales. Being the manager of regional sales, he met many people that would give him access to their farms and property to hunt and fish. Ron also spent many years as a member of A.A. He sponsored many people through the years and took a special interest in those people transferring from jail to the free world. He had an impact on many lives.

Ron loved the Texas Hill Country. His first visit was in 2014 and he moved here permanently in 2017. He was a history buff, and loved cruising the countryside reading historical markers and learning the local history. Later in life he became a compulsive Amazon shopper and had the boxes to prove it. It was not uncommon for him to receive several packages per day. His most treasured time was spent with his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Sheryl Gunnoe and husband Alan Jensen of Buchanan Dam, Texas, Karen Strolia and husband Matt of San Rafael, California; granddaughter, Katherine Gunnoe of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Kay Kronholm and husband Roger of Omaha, Nebraska; his sister-in-law, Gaileen Krebs; and numerous nieces; nephews; extended family; and friends also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Gary Krebs.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020 at Cross and Spurs Cowboy Church in Buchanan Dam, Texas with Johnny Sawyer officiating. An online guest register may be signed at PutnamCares.com.
