Sylvia Lee Hall was born in Marble Falls, Texas on Oct. 29, 1923 to Martin and Ora Shelby Yett. Martin Yett was the guide for the founder of Marble Falls, Texas. On Dec. 31, 1960, Mother Hall married a fiery Jamaican named Thomas L “Robert” Hall. Together they started raising a family. She was the mother of 11 kids. In 1969, they took the younger members of the family and moved to Dallas, Texas.

She was known by so many different names to so many different people. It was as if everyone had their own name for her: Mother, Momma Silvie, “Boss Hogg,” Ms. Hall, Ms. Sivalee, Silvie and what she liked to be called, “Mother Hall.” While in Dallas, she worked at various nursing homes as a care provider or housekeeper.

She received training in nursing at El Centro College in Dallas and was very proud of her certificates. She had such a wonderful caring way but would tell it like it is when she thought it was needed. She loved her family. The more kids the better. While in Dallas she became the neighborhood mom. All the kids loved “Ms. Hall” but understood, “Ms. Hall Don’t play.”

After the passing of her husband in 1980, she chose to remain unmarried and in Dallas until 1991 when the last two kids had left the house. That’s when she decided it was time to go back home to Marble Falls, closer to family. On Dec. 31, around 7 a.m., she was called to be with the Lord. Mother Hall will truly be missed.

A visitation will be held at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 at 12 p.m. in the Clements-Wilcox Chapel.
