Martin (J.R.) Keller Smith Jr.

April 21, 1986 — January 9, 2020

Martin (J.R.) Keller Smith Jr., 33, of Buna, Texas, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020. J.R. was born to Marty Smith and Debbie Springer-Lyons on April 21, 1986 in Burnet, Texas. He graduated from Burnet High School.

J.R. worked for C&D Enterprises and had fun with heavy equipment. His hobbies included knife collecting, 4X4 mudding, hanging out with family, playing with all the children, and attempting to fix everyone's vehicle. J.R. lived a wild and rebellious life and was always tearing things apart to see how they worked, sometimes putting them back together, and sometimes not. Ode to all of our lost Play Stations. He had an eclectic taste in cars, ranging from a Caprice Classic with 20-inch rims to a jacked-up 4X4 Ford truck with mud grips.

J.R. is survived by his daughters, Kenley Currie-Smith, 14, and Legacy Lyons, 13, of Burnet; his son, Jayden, of Burnet; sisters, Shelbie Harper, 22, of Burnet, Texas, Kaitlyn Smith, 20, of Foreman, Arkansas; and brother, Kaleb Smith, 16, of Foreman, Arkansas. Also surviving are his Memaw and various aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services for J.R. will be held Saturday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. at the East Lake Buchanan Community Center, 101 County Road 128, Burnet. J.R.'s uncle Paul Springer will begin the services sharing memories of times shared with J.R.
