Ramona Lovejoy

November 4, 1929 — January 14, 2020

Ramona Lovejoy, 90, of Cedar Park, Texas passed away Jan. 14, 2020. She was born to L.B. and Nomi (Rose) Shockley on Nov. 4, 1929 in Blanco, Texas

Ramona was raised in Johnson City, Texas and Graduated from Johnson City High School. Shortly after graduation, her high school sweetheart, C.W. Lovejoy returned from his duty in WWII. The two were married shortly thereafter and raised their family in the San Antonio and Corpus Christi areas of Texas.

After their children were raised and out of the house, they relocated to Marble Falls, Texas to be closer to family and the Hill Country they loved. After the passing of her husband in 2011, she moved in with her daughter Denise. Denise and Ramona had many “adventures” during her final years including trips to the salon for mani-pedis and road trips around the state to see distant family.

Ramona was an avid huntress and fisherwoman. She was a crack shot and was fully capable and willing to shoot and process her deer. She enjoyed the many hunting trips with the girls to the family ranch in Pontotoc, Texas. She fished the Highland Lakes and the Pedernales River for freshwater fish, but the Red Dot Pier in Corpus Christi was her favorite spot.

She was also a fan of offshore fishing. On one of her favorite offshore trips she hauled in a four-foot barracuda. She also enjoyed sewing, painting, and knitting. Her proudest moment was being the lifelong caregiver for her family. She loved family gatherings and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Cohan-Lovejoy and partner Dan Bragg of Cedar Park, Texas; son-in-law, John Allen; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; extended family; and friends also survive.
Ramona is preceded in death by her parents; husband of sixty-five years, C.W. (Slim) Lovejoy; son, Casey Lovejoy; daughter, Monette Allen; son-in-law, John Cohan; great-granddaughter, Meagan Allen; one brother; and one sister.
