Donald Clifford Lawrence

January 13, 1947 — February 2, 2020

Donald Clifford Lawrence, a longtime resident of Kingsland, Texas, passed from this life at age 73 on Feb. 2, 2020. He was surrounded by his family at home.

Don was born Jan. 13, 1947, in Odessa, Texas to Theron (TC) and Elsie Lawrence. Don married Donna Wolf Lawrence on June 17, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Lawrence of Kingsland; children, Jerry Don Lawrence and fiancée Mary Spates, Tonya Lynn Oosterhof, Christopher Lawrence and stepdaughter Callie Sconci and husband Jacob; grandchildren, Chad Hamm and wife Ciara Hamm, Brandon Hamm and wife Sara Hamm; great-grandchildren, Kenzlee, Ryder, Aubrey and Carson Hamm and Reece Sconci who all called him “PaPa”; brother, Jimmy Lawrence; sisters, Jerry Ann Chandler, Cindy Hedrick and sister-in-law Reba Lawrence. Don has many nieces, nephews and great- nieces and nephews who were proud to call him “Uncle Don.”

Don is preceded in death by his parents, TC and Elsie Lawrence; son, David Wayne Lawrence; brother, Johnny Lawrence; first wife, Deloris Lawrence; and brother-in-law, Royce Chandler.

Don began working with his dad, TC, at a young age learning all about building cabinets and homes. Don started his first business with a cabinet shop in Kingsland. He later started Better Quality Homes and then Don Lawrence Construction. He was known as one of the founding builders of Horseshoe Bay, as well as being known for his quality of home construction around the Kingsland area. Don was a gifted builder and created many, many beautiful homes here in the Hill Country.

Don was an avid archer, teaching archery, competing in tournaments, bow fishing and hunting. He loved to fish more than anything. He had many great fish stories from lake fishing to deep sea fishing and he loved to take his family and friends fishing with him. He also made a family tradition of giving each of his grandsons and great grandchildren their first fishing poles.

Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 at Putnam Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020 in the Putnam Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Shook officiating. Burial will follow at the Kingsland Cemetery.
