Marble Falls churches opt for online worship, small study groups

In light of disaster declarations on both local and county-wide levels, churches have opted to change the way they worship.
“Live streaming – I did last Sunday on Facebook,” said Pat Hatch, a member of Marble Falls First United Methodist Church. “Our grand kids were here, and they got to listen too.”
Not just First United Methodist Church but other Marble Falls churches such as First Baptist Church, Church of Christ and the local Catholic flock at St. John the Evangelist Church have all opted to deliver their messages to the faithful online or in smaller settings.
“No one has ever seen anything like this so you have nothing to compare it to. It's changing everyone's lives – their food intake, their work, their healthcare – so we're having to adjust,” said First Baptist Church Deacon Larry Berkman, who has been a member of the Marble Falls congregation for 38 years.
“We'll have service Sunday morning. All the members can see the music. We're going to stream live,” he said. “The Lord's church is going to survive. They're going to meet one way or another.
“We met in small (prayer and study) groups before this came about,” Berkman said. “Christians are going to meet and know that the Lord's still in charge. You'll still be able to pray to him.” …
