Texas will be going blue for at least one day this year—Friday, April 8—Texas Go Blue Day.
The Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards and its member board in Burnet County are observing Texas Go Blue Day in recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Thousands of Texans will wear blue, the official color of prevention, to show their support for children.
Across the county, cities are joining in with proclamations and the Burnet County Commissioners Court will recognize local efforts in their meeting Tuesday, April 12.
“We will be there with representatives of Child Protective Services and Court Appointed Special Advocates for the Highland Lakes,” said Caroline Ragsdill, president of the Burnet County Child Welfare Board. “We hope everyone will join us in recognition of the month by wearing blue on Friday.”

Frontier Communications assumes local Verizon services today, Friday, April 1.

BY GLYNIS CRAWFORD SMITH

It may have gone over the heads of most consumers as Frontier Communications negotiated the $10.56 billion acquisition of Verizon wireline phone, Internet and TV networks in Texas, California and Florida.
However, the deal was finalized yesterday and Friday, April 1, is the day Verizon home services move into the hands of Frontier. That means, if you currently have Internet, TV or Voice service–including FiOS (Verizon's branded fiber optic network of bundled Internet access, telephone, and television service), it will be provided by Frontier Communications.
Cities in the area are not expecting changes in their franchise agreements for equipment sharing space with city infrastructure or to their own services.

A Granite Shoals woman was arrested March 24, for drug possession.

If a defense can be made, it would be that she was a victim of social media and her plight launched her into national notice.

The Granite Shoals Police Department (GSPD) crafted a bogus “Breaking News” alert it had enjoyed on other law enforcement websites for its own Facebook page:
