Guy William Hardy, 54, of Burnet, Texas, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018. He was born in Tigua, Texas, on Dec. 21, 1963, to Phillip Keeton and Nora Kay Hardy. Guy, a master architectural sheet metal mechanic, owned and operated Hardy Roofing Solutions. Guy was engaged to be married this spring to Dr. Judy A. Nixon.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Owen and Vera Hardy and Curley Handy and Norine Coleman. Guy is survived by his mother, Nora Kay; his father, Phillip K; his brother, James Aaron Finley; his sisters, Elizabeth D. Ritchey and Holli D. Finkley.

Ted Wayne Snailum passed away Jan. 14, 2018. He was born in Benjamin, Texas, on July 1, 1936, to parents Lee and Grace Turner Snailum.

Ted was a self-made man. Having worked for Valero Energy for 30 years, Ted started at the bottom and worked his way up to Vice President of Operations. He was a company man all the way. Ted retired from San Antonio to Lake LBJ in 1995. He loved the lake house and all the relatives, children and grandchildren coming to visit, always ensuring the boats and wave runners were ready to go for the kids.

Jim was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1936. His family moved to Shreveport, LA where Jim grew up and went to school. He later attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a Kappa Alpha and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Engineering. After completing his Bachelor degree, Jim moved to Houston and attended the University of Houston where he received a Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering and a second Master’s Degree in Finance.

Darrell Ray Carter, 54, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, in Marble Falls, Texas, following a long-term battle with kidney disease.

He graduated from Jack C. Hays High School in 1981 and worked for Christian Manufacturing, Advanced Micro Devices, and RJR Controls. Darrell loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle through the Texas Hill Country; he enjoyed fishing, hunting and barbecuing with family and friends; he loved music and movies; and, he was a loving grandson, son, brother and uncle.

Susie Barnes Henry, 70, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away on Jan. 12, 2018, in Temple, Texas.

She was born on June 8, 1947, in El Reno, Oklahoma. Her parents were Wilma (Edwards) Catto and William Bruce Catto.

She is survived by her husband, Travis “Richard” Henry Jr.; sisters, Kathy Huff and Margaret Merrill; sons Donnie Russell, and wife Tracy, Paul Russell, and wife Barbara; daughters Melissa Pike, and husband Tim, Aimee Shannon, and husband Bo, Deana Bond, and husband Kenny, and Michelle Brumbley, and husband John.

Stepchildren Richard Henry, Travis Henry and his wife Jennifer, and Rocky Henry, as well as 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, stepdaughter Elizabeth Nichole Henry and great-granddaughter Chastity King.

Larry Gordon Piper passed away peacefully on Jan. 13, 2018, in Spring, Texas. Born on June 26, 1928 in Dallas, Texas, to John Bryan Piper and Stevie (“Pet”) Kinkead Piper, he is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Vera Jo Shepperd Piper; father and mother; brothers John Allen and David Warren Piper; and sister Janet Piper Fry.

He is survived by wife of 32 years, Marjorie Orr Koonce Piper. Also he is survived by sons Larry Piper, Jr., Steven and Margaret Piper, Jimmy and Mary Koonce, and Charles Koonce; sister Janice Piper Burrage and husband Richard of Burnet, Texas; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
