Jean "Mama Jean" Blankenship, age 96 and 10 months, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Claremont, California. Prior to her second time in California, Jean was a resident of Meadowlakes, Texas, from 1993-2016.

Maxine Bell

Della Maxine Carter Bell, 91, of Marble Falls, Texas, died peacefully Jan. 10, 2018. Maxine was born Oct, 26, 1926, to Raymond A. “Nick” and Della (Vaden) Carter in Big Lake, Texas, at home. She married James Tavener Bell on January 15, 1945, in Gordon, Texas. She graduated from high school in Gordon, Texas where she was valedictorian of a small class.

She retired from the Postal Service in 1981 after 32 ½ years of service. She was the Postmaster in Llano, Texas, for the last six years before retiring.

Benjamin Clary Bates, MD

Benjamin Clary Bates passed from this life peacefully in his sleep at his residence in Temple, Texas, the evening of Jan. 5, 2018. Born Feb. 14, 1920, to Charles Bristo Bates and Kate Clary Bates in Lewisville, Texas, Clary spent his early life in several communities around the Dallas area.

Maurice Stovall Austin peacefully passed away on Jan. 4, 2018. She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Austin was born Oct. 1, 1934 near Beaumont, Texas, to Eva and Pete Stovall. She graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville in 1953. Maurice loved her high school, where she was head cheerleader, homecoming queen and queen of the rodeo.

Floyd Allan Stephens, 70, passed away on December 30, 2017.

Floyd was born in Flint, Michigan, but passed away being a Texan. While in the service of the United States Air Force, he was stationed all over the world, the last being in Texas. Floyd loved Texas and set his roots here. He loved to explore many areas of Texas from El Paso to East Texas. Floyd shared Texas with his family and after many trips, he and part of the family, finally settled in Marble Falls.

Wayne Douglas Neely, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at the Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas, following a brief illness.

He leaves his son, Clint Neely and wife Robin Neely; his daughter, Ginger Cuellar and husband Juan Cuellar; five grandchildren; a niece and nephew, best friends Reed Eichleberger and Coach Lonnie Tackett; and many close friends.
