Orien Vondalph “Von” Swartzwelder, 85, of Bluffton, Texas, passed away into the peaceful arms of Jesus at his home Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017.

He was born March 31, 1932, at his family home in Southhampton Township, Chaneysville, Pennsylvania; he was the first son to the late Floyd V. Swartzwelder and his wife Mary (Beck). He is preceded in death by his brother, Zane O. Swartzwelder, of Chaneysville, Pennsylvania.

Christopher Wade Rolff (Cooter) passed away on Nov. 3, 2017. Christopher was born Oct. 28, 1986, to Wayne and Dawn Rolff. Chris was known as a gentle giant; the most kind-hearted soul. He loved to hunt and fish. This world was a better place with him in it.

Christopher is survived by his loving parents, Wayne and Dawn Rolff; his brother, Jaymeson and wife Nancy; two nieces and one nephew; his Nana; uncles; cousins and his loving girlfriend, Maralinda, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 2014. Private services were held by the family.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Wanda Beth Gortney, 87, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Wanda was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Luther, Texas, to Clyde and Eula Clanton. She graduated from Big Spring High School. Wanda worked at the Crystal Cafe, where she met her husband James Gortney. They were married July 2, 1948. Together, they had five children: Edna (Ricky) Lane and husband Jerry Lane of Burnet, Texas; Donna Paugh and husband Ray of Kingsland, Texas; Lanny Gortney and wife Jamie of Odessa, Texas; Pam Little and husband Steve of Granite Shoals, Texas; and Laurie Michelle Gortney. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Danny Clanton; and many more friends and family.

Richard Carfer took his final flight at the age of 92, on Oct. 24, 2017, in Kerrville, Texas. Richard was born on June 12, 1925, in Emsworth, Pennsylvania, where he lived all his life until meeting the love of his life, Evelyn Margaret Doyne. They were married on Dec. 14, 1947, in Rockville Centre, New York, and had a loving marriage for 69 years. They had two children, William Thomas (Bill) Carfer and Patricia Lynn (Patty) Zawora.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Pickett; her daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Robert Fraser, Lisa and Nathan Triesch, and Kristine and Josh Greenway; as well as her beautiful grandbabies Caleb and Wyatt Fraser, Maggie and Grayson Triesch and Dallyn and Josey Greenway. She is also survived by her loving mother, Dorothy O’Brien; brother, David O’Brien; and a nephew, Patrick O’Brien.
