Sherry Kay Beard Lesley, 61, left this life to be with the Lord on Oct. 22, 2017.

Sherry was born January 20, 1956 in Dallas, Texas to Nita Brookreson Beard and Bob R. Beard. She attended school in Mesquite Texas, graduating from North Mesquite High School in 1974. After high school, Sherry attended Texas Tech University.

Sherry’s faith in the Lord was strong. She became a member of the Methodist Church as a teenager.

Eleanor Lucille Leifeste

November 11, 1925 — October 21, 2017

Eleanor Lucille Leifeste, 91, of Kingsland, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at the Windchime Assisted Living facility after battling a series of debilitating strokes. Her hospice and assisted living caregivers volunteered that she was the sweetest and toughest woman they had ever known.

She was born Nov. 11, 1925, to Tom and Lucille O'Donnell in Fairland, Texas, where she also attended school. She attended Mary Hardin Baylor Women's College in Belton, Texas, after high school.

Mildred Maurine Langley

Mildred Maurine Langley, 97, of Highland Haven, Texas, passed away on Oct. 13, 2017. She was born to James Riley and Louisa Elizabeth (Butler) Trammell on Sept. 7, 1920, in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Mildred enjoyed cooking and made the best pecan and banana cream pies, shopping and water aerobics and swimming. She worked at Long Drug for some 27 years in El Sobrante, California, as well as a homemaker and resided in Georgetown, California, before moving to Highland Haven, Texas in 2003.

Karen Lei Giles, 80, of Burnet passed away Oct. 22, 2017. She was born July 24, 1937, in Hilo, Hawaii, to Max Finlayson and Beulah Grabill Finlayson.

She is survived by her daughter, Alicia Ferrill and husband Leroy of Burnet; son Roger Giles and wife Janeen of Brentwood, California; son Gary Giles of Modesto, California; grandchildren Cullen Ferrill, Leland Ferrill, Andrew Giles and Allison Giles; great grandchildren Terrain Ferrill and Levi Ferrill.

Victor Gilbert Shackelford

Victor Gilbert Shackelford was born July 30, 1927, in Cisco, Texas, to Joe and Ruby Shackelford. He had two older brothers, Joe and Frank, who are no longer with us.

He went by the name Vic, growing up in both Cisco and Putnam, Texas. He was always proud of graduating from Kilgore High. Right out of high school, he enlisted in the Navy and he always said his claim to fame was that the Japanese surrendered soon after he joined.

Winifred Maxine Lamb Woodruff

Winifred Maxine Lamb Woodruff, our sweet mother, grandmother, and friend to many, was called to Heaven on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at the age of 91. "Winnie" was born in Geneva, Nebraska, on July 12, 1926, to Margaret and Donald Lamb. The family, including Winnie's older brother, Keith, lived in Nebraska, Idaho, and ultimately moved to Denver and then Yuma, Colorado, for Winnie's early school years.
