Gay graduated from Marble Falls High School as valedictorian of her class in Marble Falls, Texas. She graduated from Southwest Texas College in San Marcos, Texas, with a major in Home Economics.

Roy Wilson Rushing, 90, of Austin, Texas, passed peacefully at his home with his wife by his side on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017.

Roy was born in Pleasant Valley, Texas, on Jan. 30, 1927, to parents William and Nellie (Heffington) Rushing. Roy and his wife Martha Belle (Evans) just celebrated 68 years of marriage on May 12.

Roy was a member of the greatest generation and faithfully served during World War II in the United States Navy. He spent over 40 years as a barber in Georgetown, Texas, at Roy’s Barber Shop. When he was not cutting hair, he loved spending time at his ranch near Spicewood, Texas.

She was a 1979 graduate of Marble Falls High School, then went on to graduate from Angelo State University where she obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse.

Russ Bowman passed away on Aug. 13, 2017, doing what he loved — boating on Lake LBJ. He was born in Monahans, Texas, in 1949 and moved to Austin to attend UT, where he received a degree in pharmacy. His love of adventure led him to travel the US, including Alaska. He returned to pharmacy and retired from Atkins after 10 years. Russ' charisma drew others instantly to him; helping anyone in need. He was a stranger to no one. He is loved fiercely by his family and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; children: Erika, Aaron, Alyssa, Kelly and son-in-law, Curt; grandchildren: Braden, Miles and Margot; sister, Jan and brother-in-law, Jack. He was preceded in death by parents, Russell and Lacey, and brother Steve.

Shirley Joan Heffington Rogers, 81, a lifetime resident of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away at her home by her husband’s side on Aug. 16, 2017.

Shirley was born, at home, on Turner Farm (Spicewood) on Oct. 2, 1935.

She was a 1953 graduate of Marble Falls High School, where she was a cheerleader, basketball player, class favorite, and Homecoming Queen.
